We purchased a new Chevalier 3-axis CNC machine to help further outfit our tool room here at Stamped Products Inc. This should allow us for a higher precision and productivity on modifying and maintaining various parts of the tools used on the press and weld lines. This new CNC features a 39.4’ x 20.1’ table and a maximum feed rate of 393ipm.
Effective September 1st 2021, we have promoted Billy Helms from Tool Room Manager to our Manufacturing Manager. Billy will have the responsibility of managing the production in the press and weld departments, and will continue to manage the Tool Room. We think Billy is a fantastic fit for this role, and this change will work to keep SPI Competitive and successful for years to come!
We are always striving to make our tool room more efficient. Our single crane to move tools around was our current *insert word for pain point*. We have now added a second crane to our tool room so that we can move multiple tools and details at the same time. This new crane has a larger 10 ton capacity! This should also allow us to safely move and work on larger tools that we bring into our in-house tool room.
Advancing our engineering and quality department with new hardware! We have integrated a Quantum Max Faro Arm into our processes here at stamped products. This brings us the capability to more accurately take 3d scans of various tools, gauges, etc – As well as allowing for 3d inspections in our quality department. A new associate was hired with years of experience using FARO products, Jason will be operating the arm and helping our engineering team at SPI to reverse engineer parts and tools, and our quality department with 3d inspections of current production parts. Working alongside our tool room, engineers now have the ability to create cad data from various tools that may have been moved over during take over work, or from older tools that are needed. This arm helps add more value to what we have to offer customers here at SPI.
The transfer tool IS the KING of productivity tools, we have taken delivery of a new Seyi 660 transfer press. We are currently in the process of configuring a new work area for the press, and getting all of the pieces assembled. We hope to have this up and running, and into production by early 2014.
We started construction today on the new pad where we plan to install our new 660 Seyi Transfer press. Some concrete cutting and digging out of the pit took place today. We hope to take delivery of the press around September of this year.
Finishing touches have been started on the new pit that will house part of the 660 Seyi Transfer Press. Forms started to be removed this morning and crews hope to be complete by the end of the day. We will wait some time for the concrete to cure before moving further in the project.
Today we received the shipment of the 660 Seyi Transfer press. Several containers have arrived and we hope to start putting pieces in place over the next few weeks!
Pieces are going into place and the press is starting to take shape. Everything has been going smoothly and We are getting closer to being able to flip the switch and turn it on for the first time!
Our brand new Seyi 660 transfer press is LIVE! The installation went smoothly, and we have it up and running to start the training with our operators. The linear automation system has been easy to use and configure, our engineers are hard at work optimizing current tools to move over to this new press. We are excited for the new opportunities this presents our customers!
